Australian Championship 2023 - Parkes, NSW

NSW Rogaining Association will host the next Australian Championship on 30 September/ 1 October 2023. The venue is Goobang National Park between Parkes and Orange. Organiser is Trevor Gollan with course setters David Williams and Ronny Taib. This event will incorporate the 2023 Intervarsity Championship.
The Australasian Rogaining Championship is scheduled for New Zealand's south island in mid-late November.

The International Rogaining Federation (IRF) has awarded the rights to host the 16th World Rogaining Championships (WRC) to the Iberogaine Asociacion in conjunction with a number of orienteering clubs who are members of the Federacio de Curses d’Orientacio de Catalunya. The Championships will be held on 6th-7th July 2019 and will attract many hundreds of elite and veteran endurance cross-country navigators from around the world. The event will be centred on two of Catalunya’s top ski resorts: La Molina and Masella, with the competition area straddling the Spain/France border in the Pyrenees Mountains. The combination of high altitude, steep slopes and 40% open terrain will be very different from any previous WRC with the physically demanding nature of the area sure to offer a challenge to the world’s best rogainers.
 
The 14th World Rogaining Championships were recently held in Central Australia, with the 15th WRC to be conducted in Latvia in 2017.

Entries for the 2017 World Rogaining Championship are now open. Enter before 14 December to maximise your chance of getting in. There won't be a WRC in 2018 so this will be the last opportunity to compete with the world's best for a while.

The WRC 2017 will be held on 18–19 August 2017 in Rāzna National Park. The website is at www.wrc2017.rogaining.lv

WARA hosted the 37th Australian Rogaining Championship and fourth Australasian Championship at Nannup on 17-18 September 2016. There were 315 competitors in 124 teams. Paul Williams and David Symons from WA won overall, followed by Gill Fowler and Joel Mackay from NSW, then David Baldwin and Julie Quinn from ACT. Andre Morkel and Tim Sikma were only 5 minutes behind, with the top 4 teams well clear of the field.

Winners of the open categories were:

  • Paul Williams, David Symons (WA), First Mens
  • Gill Fowler, Joel Mackay (NSW), First Mixed
  • Tamsin Barnes (Qld), Janet Musker (WA), First Women

Details

The Australasian Rogaining Championship will be held on 11-12th February 2017 in New Zealand. The location is Northern Southland, near Waikaia. Queenstown is the closest international airport with frequent flights from Australia and the North Island.

The course has already been set and the locals are looking forward to welcoming athletes from all around New Zealand, Australia and the wider regions for the 2017 Australasian Rogaine Championships.
